Evansville, IN – The community is mourning the loss of Autumn Elaine Vieira, a 21-year-old Indiana University senior whose vibrant spirit, creativity, and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Autumn passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, leaving family, friends, and the Evansville community heartbroken.

Born on June 15, 2004, Autumn was the beloved daughter of Craig and Melissa (Schenk) Vieira. A proud graduate of North High School in 2022, she carried her enthusiasm, determination, and warmth into her studies at Indiana University, where she pursued criminal justice with a deep desire to make the world a fairer and more just place.

Autumn’s life was a testament to creativity and self-expression. Friends and family remember her bold sense of style, her meticulously done nails, and her unique thrifted fashion choices. She was also a talented artist, finding joy and meaning in drawing and painting. “Her artwork wasn’t just a hobby; it was her soul on paper,” a close friend shared. Her nurturing and caring nature extended to her beloved canine companions, Duke and Brutus, who were constants in her life.

Known for her infectious laugh and magnetic presence, Autumn was often the life of any gathering, yet she treasured quiet moments with her family and close friends. Her compassion, loyalty, and generosity were hallmarks of her character, touching all who knew her.

Autumn is survived by her parents, Craig and Melissa Vieira; her sister, Alyxa Vieira; her brother, Bryce Kravetz; her grandparents, Ron and Ann Vieira; her niece, Annie Jo; her nephew, Xander; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dennis and Diana Schenk.

A celebration of Autumn’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Browning Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at noon. In lieu of flowers, her family encourages memorial contributions to Centenary United Methodist Church or It Takes a Village Rescue, reflecting her caring and compassionate spirit.

Though her life was tragically brief, Autumn Elaine Vieira leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and joyful connection. Her light, kindness, and spirit will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
